Colleen Steppa, LCSW, MSW/MBA

Licensed Clinical Social Worker & Clinical Supervisor

About Colleen:
Colleen Steppa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with dual MSW/MBA degrees from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She holds clinical licensure in both Minnesota and Arizona and brings extensive experience in trauma-focused therapy, advocacy, and higher education. Colleen specializes in supporting individuals navigating the lasting effects of trauma, including religious trauma, childhood assault, and recovery from abusive relationships.
With a deep commitment to equity and inclusion, Colleen is particularly passionate about working with LGBTQ+ clients and immigrant and refugee populations. Her prior work in affordable housing and advocacy informs her understanding of systemic barriers to care, and she integrates this awareness into her therapeutic practice.

Education and Professional Experience:
Colleen’s career spans multiple systems and roles. She has worked within government agencies and clinical settings, developing a wide-ranging skill set to meet the complex needs of diverse clients. In addition to her clinical practice, she served as a professor at Arizona State University, where she taught graduate-level social work students and mentored the next generation of social workers.

Clinical Supervision:
At Progress Health Network, Colleen also serves as a clinical supervisor, supporting associate therapists as they grow in their professional roles. She brings a thoughtful, reflective style to supervision, encouraging curiosity, collaboration, and the development of a strong clinical voice. Colleen values supervision as a space where emerging therapists can deepen their clinical skills while also exploring their professional identity and resilience. Her goal is to equip supervisees with both practical tools and the confidence to approach their work with integrity, cultural humility, and compassion.
